I sailed on the G. A.. Tomlinson (George Ashley) in 1975. She was part of Columbia Transportation of the Oglebay Norton Co. She was restricted to Lakes Huron and Erie. As I recall, she was built in 1907 in Ecorse, Michigan and scraped in 1980.
I have a photo of the G.A. Tomlinson. My great uncle, Jared A. Massey, sailed on her in the early part of the 20th century.
Is there a way to attach the photo?
I don’t have a way of attaching photos to this website but if you authorize distribution you can send it to me, hard copy by mail or email, and I will get it to one of people who handle the vessel photos.
My grandfather was a captain of that ship in the 60’s and 70’s trying to find more information
Joseph E. Fitch was captain of the Tomlinson from 1966 thru 1972. He does not appear after the Tomlinson Fleet was sold to Columbia.
That would be him. Do you have any more information
My Grandfather is Joseph E. Fitch and I am trying to find more info
Joseph E. Fitch would be my grandfather. I am trying to figure out timelines if you could help steer me in a direction
I have an original oil painting of the Tomlinson maneuvering its way through the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland. It’s really nice and I wish I had a way of showing an image

I worked the G. L. Tomlinson as a deckhand. In 1955.I I would very much appreciate a copy or photo of painting you mentioned.
