Laid down as bulk freighter War Fortune for British government for off-Lakes service during World War I. Requisitioned by the United States Shipping Board during construction, renamed Lake Weir and left the Great Lakes upon completion

Sold fall 1924 to Construction Materials Co., Chicago IL (home port to Gary IN). Took delivery at Newport News VA, picked up diesel engines at Buffalo NY on inbound voyage and arrived Cleveland OH Dec 17, 1924. Rebuilt and converted to sand dredge by Interlake Engineering Co. 1925 and renamed Sandmaster. Towed to Cleveland drydock of American Ship Building Co., where twin propellers were installed and wintered there.
Cleared Cleveland OH May 6, 1926 for Chicago IL and entered service
Sold Brazilian 1945 for off-Lakes service and left the Great Lakes
Scrapped 1962 in Brazil
