Thank you for this information on the Pere Marquette No. 10. One of my Dad’s uncles, a fellow by the name of George Emeigh, a Veteran of the U.S. Lifesaving Service at the lifeboat station just north of Fort Gratiot, MI, used to be an employee of the Pere Marquette Railroad, and in that capacity, he was a captain of this vessel, shuttling railcars from Port Huron to Sarnia, or Port Huron to Detroit to Windsor, Ont. for many years. My Dad was fascinated when I turned up this info upon researching his uncle’s ancestry information. We absolutely love any and all information on this interesting aspect of not only our own family history, but Michigan’s railroad AND maritime history as well!
