I have grown up with stories of the George N’ Orr as my Grandparents housed the Sailors off the George N’ Orr when it ran aground off Savage Harbour, PEI in 1917. There was memorabilia of the ship in our household that my Parents and Grandmother had that included trunks, magnifying glass for reading ships maps which I now have as well as other stuff. Remnants of the ship could still be seen at low tide when I was younger.
Hi Irene, it’s 2022 hope all is well with you, my great grandmother married one of the sailors on the ship after housing them as well! The Feehan family. Not sure if you will see this but I would love to visit Savage Harbor one day to find out more, maybe we can connect.
