Built at Ecorse MI by Great Lakes Engineering Works, Hull 187
Launched April 20, 1918
Laid down as the general cargo freighter War Naiad for the British government for off-Lakes service during World War I.  Requisitioned by the United States Shipping Board during construction, renamed Lake Hemlock and left the Great Lakes upon completion

1 deck, coal-fired boilers, triple expansion engine, 1200 IHP

Enrolled at Detroit MI
252.5 x 43.8 x 20.4, 2308 GT, 1378 NT     US 216161

Sold 1925 from the postwar reserve fleet to Ford Motor Co., Detroit MI and returned to the Great Lakes
Converted to barge
Remeasured to 2015 GT, 1883 NT

Entered Great Lakes service 1927

Requisitioned 1942 for off-Lakes service during World War II and left the Great Lakes

Foundered Dec 13, 1957 off Falkner’s Light, Long Island Sound.  Being towed by tug Peggy Sheridan.
