My Grandfather did a trip on the Eastern States most of the month of July 1948 as Third Officer. His Continuous Discharge Book has the number 136,981 as part of the stamp with the Eastern States name of ship.
My father worked on the ship during the summers of 1948 and 1949. Soon after, the line ceased operations.
