Stranded Dec 1, 1922 off the west breakwater of the Portage Lake Canal, Keweenaw Peninsula, Lake Superior. 11 lives lost. Upbound with cargo of coal from Lorain OH for Port Arthur ON, encountered gale on Lake Superior and attempted to find shelter in ship canal. When the vessel began to founder, nine members of her crew were taken aboard the Coast Guard cutter which had come alongside. The other eleven stayed with the ship and were lost when she was driven on the rocks and became a total loss.
