In 1870 made the first experiment towing a schooner in the iron ore trade, towing the schooner barge Forest City. The experiment was very successful.
Rebuilt 1881 to 2 decks
Remeasured to 211.2 x 32.5 x 19.2, 1129.22 tons (921.76 NT 1882)
Repowered 1883 with steeple compound engine
Transferred 1892 to Vulcan Transportation Co., Detroit MI
Burned Nov 12, 1905 at Whaleback Shoal, about 10 miles from Cedar River, Green Bay. Enroute to Marinette WI with cargo of coal, caught fire on Green Bay and was beached. No lives lost. Enrollment surrendered Nov 15, 1905.
