Entered service 1890

Foundered May 8, 1916  8 miles north of Eagle Harbor, Keweenaw Peninsula, Lake Superior.  20 of 22 lost (second mate and one fireman picked up from wreckage).  Downbound from Ashland WI with cargo of iron ore (probably badly overloaded) towing barge George E. Hartnell in heavy storm. Broke in two and sank.  Barge towed to safety by steamer E. H. Utley.
