My grandfather (Alex Umlauf) crewed on the Matoa as an engine oiler when she went stranded Nov 10, 1913 near Point aux Barques, Lake Huron in the “Big Storm.”
Any information you can provide me with regarding this would be greatly appreciated. We have created an exhibit with my grandfather’s storm memorabilia and had it installed at the PABLH Museum where it is now on display.
Thank you,
