Built in two sections.  After section built at Collingwood ON by Collingwood Shipyards, Hull 224, keel laid April 29, 1982, launched Oct 21, 1982.  Forward section built in drydock at Thunder Bay ON by Port Arthur Shipbuilding Co.  After section towed to Port Arthur April 1983 and joined with forward section.

730’ LOA, 718’6” LBP, 75’10” beam, 46’6” depth
1 deck, arch cargo hold construction, hatches @ 24’, oil-fired diesel engines, 8460 BHP

Entered service June 13, 1983 clearing Thunder Bay ON with coal for Nanticoke ON

Management transferred 1993 to Seaway Self-Unloaders, St. Catharines ON, a vessel operation and management joint venture of Algoma Central Railway and ULS Corporation to operate their self-unloading vessels, ULS Corporation, Mgr.

Self-unloader and straight deck management organizations of these firms merged 2000 into a single firm, Seaway Marine Transport, St. Catharines ON
