Built as Class T2-SE-A1 tanker Grande Ronde for U. S. Maritime Commission during World War II. Registered at 504.0 x 68.2 x 39.2, 10448 GT, 6301 NT, US 244922. 523’6” LOA, 503’ LBP, 68’2” beam, 39’2” depth. Sold Greek 1948 and renamed Kate N. L.. Sold 1960 to owners below.
Converted to Great Lakes bulk freighter at Hamburg Germany by Schlieker-Werft with the addition of a new forward section forward of the machinery spaces. Renamed Hilda Marjanne 1961 and sailed to St. Catharines ON, where she was prepared for lake service by Port Weller Dry Docks Ltd..

Rebuilt winter 1983-1984 at St. Catharines ON by Port Weller Dry Docks combining the forward section of this vessel, minus her forward cabins, and the stern section of the ocean package freighter M.V. Chimo (Can 323030).
Renamed Canadian Ranger 1984 and reentered service May 6, 1984.
Converted 1988 to self-unloader at Hamilton ON. The unloading system was designed primarily to unload grain and similar light products.
Management transferred 1990 to Seaway Bulk Carriers, St. Catharines ON, a vessel operation and management joint venture of Algoma Central Railway and ULS Corporation to operate their straight deck vessels, ULS Corporation, Mgr. (This vessel, a self-unloader, was included in this group since she was operated in the grain trade and not in the usual trades of the other self-unloading vessels of the fleets.)
Self-unloader and straight deck management organizations of these firms merged 2000 into a single firm, Seaway Marine Transport, St. Catharines ON
Laid up Dec 25, 2008 at Toronto ON and did not operate again

Sold for scrap 2011 to Turkish shipbreakers. Cleared Montreal QC June 10, 2011 towed by tug Pantodynamos. Tow arrived Aliaga Turkey July 13, 2011.
