Have information that my great, great grandfather was a Captain at one time on the Ship “The Champlain”, of the Northern Lines on the great lakes. His name was Jared Erwin Kennan or JE Kennan. Would love to find out if his name pops up in your records for this ship. Found this information in an article in the Sandusky Register dated July 31, 1911. Any contact on this would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don’t find your great great grandfather listed as captain of this ship for 1911 through 1913. The appointment for 1910 was not announced in the 1910 Red Book since she didn’t enter service (as a new vessel) until May of that year.
I also didn’t find his name in the appointments to the other vessels we discussed on the phone.
Hello, how are you doing were you able to fine out any more Information about the Kennan
My grandfather, Alfred C. Drouillard, was promoted to First Mate on this boat on June 20, 1911 and finished the season in that capacity.
