Built at Quincy MA by Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Hull 1582
Launched March 11, 1944
Built for the U. S. Navy during World War II as a landing ship (tank) LST 1006. Original dimensions 328’ LOA, 50’ beam, 25’ depth. Twin-screw vessel, 2 diesels, 1800 BHP. Sold 1951 to owner below and towed into the Great Lakes via the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers
to Sturgeon Bay WI, where she was converted to a pulpwood barge. Her engines were removed and installed in two tugs owned by her new owner.
