The railroads were required under the provisions of the Panama Canal Act of 1912
to divest themselves of competing vessels. Great Lakes Transit Corporation was
organized to own and operate these vessels.
Renamed W. W. Atterbury 1920
Remeasured 1926 to 4060 GT, 3129 NT
Sold 1942 to U. S. War Shipping Administration for off-Lakes service during World War II and left the Great Lakes. Towed down Illinois and Mississippi Rivers to the Gulf of Mexico. Converted to repair ship.
Sold Finnish after the war and renamed Pankakoski.
Scrapped 1954 at Hong Kong.
