Entered service July 2, 1909
On her maiden trip sank str. John B. Cowle July 12, 1909 2 miles off Whitefish Point Light, Lake Superior in dense fog.  14 lost from Cowle.  She had just passed Whitefish Point upbound and had straightened out on her crosslake course when Cowle suddenly appeared broadside to her dead ahead.  Cowle was downbound with a cargo of iron ore and sank immediately.

Foundered about Nov 9, 1913 in lower Lake Huron in the “Big Storm” of 1913.  All 28 aboard lost.
Enrollment surrendered Jan 19, 1914.
