My Grandfather did his final trip on the Lakes on the S.S. Sonora on 8/25/1957 – 9/02/1957. He died in June 1958. I recently came across his Continuous Discharge Book. He prior had last been out in 1948. I always heard that he wanted to do one last trip and was listed as 2nd Officer on the Sonora. I think he was more of a passenger. Glad to have found this page with history of the Sonora.
